Life at Hastings Direct: Danni

Danni, Team Leader

What's it like working at Hastings Direct? We're an agile and fast moving company where Colleagues can contribute and thrive.

Want to know more? We're going to be talking to different people throughout the business to give you a real insight into what it's like to work at Hastings Direct.

Danni.

Danni joined Hastings Direct claims department in November 2014 and led a team of 14 new starters. Her team are responsible for being the first point of contact for customers who've been involved in an accident, or have existing claims queries.

What do you love about working for Hastings Direct?

Working in a motivated team and taking our customers who've been involved in an incident through the first notification process.

What attracted you to work at Hastings Direct?

I love the call centre environment and how buzzing everyone is to support our customer's day in day out. Seeing new Colleagues grow and develop their skills and knowledge is very rewarding for me, as well as seeing how quickly they progress within the company.

What would your candidate top tip be?

Demonstrate motivation and tell us what motivates you. We need to see how you will fit into our busy, fast pace environment. We need to know what you will do to be the best that you can be by putting our customers at the heart of everything you do.

What does a day in your role look like?

In most instances my team of 14 customer representatives are the first people our customers speak to after a road traffic accident. So, I spend time coaching and developing my team on their skills and knowledge, whilst setting goals to make sure they're performing as best as they can for our customers.

What's the main perk of your role?

Watching Colleagues grow from day one on the floor and progress into different teams within claims.

What did you do before you joined Hastings Direct?

Branch manager for Barclays Bank

How has your career developed while at Hastings Direct?

I feel my knowledge and understanding of insurance and claims increases every day. From the minute I hit the floor, I got stuck in to make sure I have a greater understanding of claims and the wider business to be able to support my team. This was recognised when I was awarded "team leader of the year" and "best newcomer" for claims in August 2015. I also received "best leader in the company" award in October 2015.
