In line with guidance from the Government and to help look after our colleagues, most of our team are now working from home and are taking calls. However, waiting times are longer than normal and the quality of the call may not be as clear as if we were talking to you from our call centre. We're committed to supporting you in the best way we can and will be here throughout to keep you updated so make sure to check back regularly.

At this time, please help us to prioritise essential calls by using our online services.

  • If you're a car customer you can use MyAccount or the app to make policy changes or payments, including changing your payment date, checking your documents or to report or track a claim (MyAccount only).
  • If you're a home, bike or van customer, you can make policy changes or requests using our online forms.

If you do phone, we may only be able to deal with your query if:

  • Your policy is due to renew and you're concerned it's no longer suitable for you or you're thinking of cancelling your insurance, or
  • You are worried about making future payments, or
  • You're in a vulnerable situation or an NHS or frontline health care worker who can't easily access our online services, or
  • You need to make a claim and your vehicle is un-driveable or if you need urgent roadside assistance.

Home insurance policy features & extras

House and contents cover from Hastings Direct.

You can get home insurance cover for your household contents, the building itself, or both building and contents combined.

Your home insurance cover includes:

  • No claims discount
  • Accidental damage to TVs and computers
  • Accidental damage cover for glass
  • Replacement locks if your keys get stolen
  • New-for-old cover (except clothing and household linen).

On both buildings and contents cover you can extend the standard cover to include further accidental damage, to protect against those little accidents that happen from time to time; such as spilling paint on the carpet or a DIY disaster.

You'll also have the option to extend standard contents cover to cover items away from the home; such as pedal cycles, items of jewellery or sports equipment.

Plus, you can tailor your policy to your needs by choosing from these optional extras:

› Home emergency cover

With home emergency and boiler cover from Hastings Direct, you receive emergency property assistance with 24 hour access to a specialised team who can appoint a qualified tradesman 365 days a year. It provides cover for things like your primary heating system failing, failure of the electricity or gas supply or infestation of pests.

› Family legal protection

As an optional extra, you can add family legal protection that covers you and other family members who live at your permanent home address. This includes unlimited 24-hour legal advice to a team of experts, who you can talk to in confidence about any private legal issues, such as faulty goods or employment disputes. If you have a case the policy can pay up to £50,000 for your legal costs.

› Key cover
