No Frills Policy Offers Motorists Relief on Rising Cost of Driving

26th July 2010

Drivers struggling with near record high petrol prices and predicted car insurance rate rises of 20% this year, can take advantage of a no frills comprehensive car insurance policy — essential — available from Hasting Insurance Services Limited to help cut the cost of motoring.

Hastings' essential policy offers comprehensive cover for drivers who are keen to cut the cost of motoring. There is an "essential" core level of protection — including courtesy car benefit, and EU driving — but drivers can choose to pay for optional "extras" such as legal protection or protected no claims.

To help keep the costs of essential down, drivers should be aware of what is not included with the product. Third party cover to drive other cars is not included, nor is cover for personal belongings, medical expenses or personal accident (other than the cost of emergency treatment as required by the Road Traffic Act) and there is a no replacement car clause. In the event of a claim, if a policyholder chooses to use their own repairer, their excess will be doubled and if their vehicle is subject to a total loss, the policy is automatically cancelled. Any claim for windscreen cover will affect your no claims discount.

Murray Fox, head of car insurance at Hastings: "We believe customers should be given a choice. Offering a no-frills car insurance policy, with the option of added extras, is an appealing proposition for many motorists who are feeling increasingly financially stretched. This no frills comprehensive policy creates a clear choice with both transparent exclusions and transparent pricing for any extras, against other more standard motor insurance policies."

"Hastings Direct's essential policy is designed for people who are keen to cut their bills, without dramatically cutting the cost of their cover."
