Hastings Direct's staff honour Armed Forces Day

1st July 2014

Armed Forces Day.

Staff from Hastings Direct commemorated Armed Forces Day (Saturday June 28th) by wearing their uniforms to work.

Army Cadet Force (ACF) and Air Training Corps (ATC) volunteers wore their uniforms to work in support of and to raise awareness of the national uniform to work initiative — part of the annual Armed Forces Day celebrations.

The group who all work at Hastings Direct give up their weekends and evenings to provide training to young people from around the local area.

Armed Forces Day raises public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty's Armed Forces, It gives the nation an opportunity to Show Your Support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families and from veterans to cadets.

Captain Emma Snead — a project manager with Hastings Direct and public relations officer for Sussex ACF said "The Ministry of Defence sponsors and supports the cadet forces who all offer challenging and enjoyable activities for young people, and prepare them to play an active part in the community while developing valuable life skills. Today is an opportunity for us to raise awareness and recruit additional adult volunteers to our numbers. Without the support of our employers it would be far harder for us to give the time we do to our community and we are grateful for their support in today's event"
