Rachel Storer, 23 and Sam Swann, 24 — both employees at Bexhill based insurer Hastings Direct — have just achieved professional accreditation in compliance thanks to the company's support.
Rachel and Sam not only passed, they were both awarded merits from the International Compliance Association in the exams they recently took to gain their Advanced Certificate in Compliance.
Rachel and Sam have both worked at Hastings Direct for six years joining the company straight from education. Hastings Direct sponsored Rachel and Sam to take the courses and examinations over the last 12 months which has now resulted in the ladies being professionally accredited.
The work of Compliance is an essential part of any financial services organisation. It is the responsibility of the compliance department to ensure that the business adheres to regulatory and legal requirements and works with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) on the company's behalf. On a more fundamental level, the compliance team ensure that the company's customers' interests are at the core of everything they do. Their work includes providing guidance to the senior management of the business, in relation to the fair treatment of customers, ongoing monitoring of processes and policies and the review of all promotional material to ensure it is clear.
Sam Swann, risk and compliance officer: "I am delighted to have been given the opportunity by Hastings Direct to learn and achieve my professional status whilst still working and would like to thank everyone for their support."
Rachel Storer, risk and compliance officer: "The work we do is incredibly varied and interesting; we never really know what is going to happen each day. This qualification provides a good foundation that I hope to build on in the future."
