Hastings Direct's motor insurance shines with Defaqto 5 Star Rating

Hasting Direct's standard and premier motor insurance products have been rated with comprehensive motor insurance policies across the UK by independent experts Defaqto and received its top 5 Star Rating.

A Defaqto Star Rating reflects the quality of a financial product, helping consumers to make a more informed decision about which product best suits their needs. Star Ratings assess 47 different features and benefits of comprehensive motor insurance policies and score each from 1 to 5. Five being the highest level of a feature and the overall score determines the Star Rating. Star Ratings reflect the range and level of features and benefits offered by each product, not its price.

Mike Powell, Defaqto's Insight Analyst for General Insurance, said: "When buying motor insurance it is essential that people match the features and benefits they need with those provided by the product they choose. If consumers focus on price alone they can run the risk of not including the cover they actually need.

Hastings Direct is one of the UK's fastest growing retailers of insurance products offering car, van, bike and home insurance. In the New Year, the company celebrated selling its 1,000,000th policy and was named Personal Lines Broker of the Year in December 2011.
