A recent drive at Bexhill-based insurance broker Hastings Direct by the Anthony Nolan charity has added fifty six new members to its bone marrow register.
Hastings Direct appealed to its staff to donate a saliva sample to help the Anthony Nolan Charity reach its target of one million registered bone marrow donors.
Anthony Nolan is a charity that finds matches for leukaemia patients who need a lifesaving transplant. For someone with leukaemia, a bone marrow transplant can be their only hope of life. The charity uses its register, cord blood bank and research to find remarkable people who can give them that hope by donating their stem cells.
Jay Wootten, chair, charity committee, Hastings Direct: "We were only too happy to help the Anthony Nolan charity. There is an age limit on donations, so many more staff wanted to give saliva samples, but were unable to do so. By donating something as simple as salvia, hopefully one of our members of staff will be a future match and can help save a life."
