Hastings Direct colleagues to cycle 128 miles for charity

22nd August 2016

Eleven colleagues from Hastings Direct will be hoping to harness the cycling success of Team GB when they ride 128 miles from Newmarket to Bexhill in three weeks' time. Raising money for Bexhill based charity Home Call, one of the company's charity partners for 2016, the keen amateur cyclists have already been training hard for the challenge.

Starting at Hastings Direct's Newmarket office on 13th September at 6am, Martin Pierce, Dave Peacock, Ben Wright, Gary Cook, Nicole Walker, Daryl Nayler, Matt Laver, Mark Humphrey, Paul Baker, Simon Catmur and Alan Auger hope to reach Conquest House (Hastings Direct's head office) in Bexhill approximately 12 hours later.

Speaking about the task ahead, Gary Cook, Head of Business Analysis, said; "I've always been a keen cyclist and, along with some other members of team, cycled 1000km across Spain a few years ago. We've also regularly taken part in ‘National Cycle to Work Day' which encouraged us to suggest cycling from Hastings Direct's Newmarket office to our head office in Bexhill. We're all really enjoying the training despite the pain and exhaustion — but it's all worth it to raise money for such great local charity".

The team are hoping to raise £5,000 for Homecall — a local charity who looks to give independence back to those who are visually impaired. Visit JustGiving.com to follow the group's fundraising efforts.
